April 15, 2018

Box Score

HAMPTON, Virginia - The Hawks suffered a 2-0 defeat from the Hampton Pirates on Sunday (Apr. 15). The win secured a series win for Hampton after the two teams split a pair of games on Saturday.

Sunday's game was delayed for two hours and four minutes due to inclement weather in the bottom of the second inning.

When the game continued, freshman Nasya Goodman and Hampton's Allyson Babinsack engaged in a pitcher's duel. The Hawks and Pirates managed only seven hits between the two teams.

The Pirates only earned run came in the sixth inning off of a sacrifice bunt. Their other run came off of an error in the third.

Eastern Shore got hits in each of the final three innings, but never truly threatened to score during the contest. The hits came from juniors Heidi Smith, Daeshia Jones, and Sara Jo Whaley.

The Hawks will be back in action on Wednesday (Apr. 18) as they travel to New Jersey to face Saint Peter's University.
