LIMERICK, Pennsylvania — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore is in fourth place heading into Sunday's bracket round at the KU Invitational at the Limerick Bowl in Limerick, Pennsylvania.
The Hawks went 3-2 in traditional matches on the second day of competition, while
Brigitte Jacobs (Freeport, Illinois) averaged a 236.6 over five games to finish second and an individual.
"It was a productive day on the lanes," head coach
Kayla Bandy said. "We tackled the fresh much better than we did the first day. Well executed shots and better surface management going into the day helped a lot. Transition from the high end of the house to the low end of the house was not easy as they were quite a bit different."
Jacobs posted a high of 257 and had a low of just 211.
"She was a force to be reckoned with today," Bandy said. "She is throwing the ball great and was tremendous for us today. Such a consistent performance from game one to five today. She and
Cayla Hicks (Salem, Virginia) were great at the bottom of the line up making shots when we needed them. We look to build on that going into tomorrow's bracket play."
Hicks was 15
th overall with a five-game average of 207.6. She had a high game of 244 to open the day.
The Hawks (36-21, 8-2 MEAC) had a two-day pinfall of 9,997. They opened with a 1,057-911 win against University of Alabama Birmingham, then followed that up with victories against Wilmington University (1,023-984) and Howard (975-974).
The Shore dropped matches to Arkansas State (1,102-990) and Tulane (1,032-916) to end the day.

Danielle August (Mililani, Hawaii) finished with a 188.8 average over five games (55
th) including a 216 in the win against Wilmington.
Freshman
Isabel Hughes (Raleigh, North Carolina) rolled her way to a 176.0 average over five games with a high of 214 in the opener. Classmate
Chloe Skurzynski (Carlisle, Pennsylvania) saw her first traditional action as a Hawk competing in the first three games and averaging a 173.65.
