WASHINGTON, D.C. — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's basketball team will play the Howard University Bison for the second time this season on Monday night (Jan. 28). Tip will be at 7 p.m. and the contest will be broadcast on ESPNU.
The Hawks (3-19, 1-6 MEAC) are coming of an 88-60 loss to the league leading Norfolk State University Spartans on Jan. 26. NSU connected on 18 3-pointers versus Maryland Eastern Shore to stay undefeated in conference play.
Grad student Ryan Andino (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) led Eastern Shore with 19 points, while fellow Floridian sophomore Canaan Bartley (Miami, FL) had 15. Junior Bryan Urrutia (Chihuahua, Mexico) tied for the game high with eight assists.
Monday will serve as the second meeting of the season between the Hawks and the Bison. HU won the first meeting 79-39 on Jan. 7. Eastern Shore had their lowest scoring half of the season in the first half of that game as they only scored 12.
Howard (9-12, 3-3 MEAC) is coming off an 80-74 win versus Delaware State. Their dynamic duo of R.J. Cole and Charles Williams combined for 49 points to lift them in the game.
The Bison are currently the highest scoring team in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference as they average 79.3 points per game. Cole, Williams, and Chad Lott are three of the top seven individual scorers in the conference.
