WASHINGTON, D.C. — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore volleyball team fell 3-0 (27-29, 22-25 and 19-25) to the Howard University Bison on Sunday afternoon (Nov. 10).
The Hawks (11-17, 6-7 MEAC) dropped a match to the Bison for the second time this season. HU won the two teams' previous matchup on Oct. 6 in four sets.
The first set of the match had 15 ties and five lead changes. The Hawks trailed 24-22 before winning the next three points to get to set point. Eastern Shore would have set point two more times but were not able to close the deal and Howard got a kill to end the frame.
The Bison would control the majority of the action after that as the lead only changed hands twice in the final two sets.
Sophomore Alexis Lee (Wilmington, Delaware) led the team in kills with 12. Her classmate Tijuna Korosec (Belgrade, Serbia) led the squad in assists with 15.
The Shore will now return home for their final two matches of the regular season against Morgan State (Nov. 15) and Coppin State (Nov. 17). The Hawks still sit in the fourth place in the MEAC northern division and control their own destiny for a birth to the MEAC Tournament.
