MILLSBORO, Delaware — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore improved to 3-2 on the second day of competition at the Eastern Shore Hawks Classic Saturday (Nov. 22) and moved up to fifth place and the No. 5 seed for Sunday's bracket play.
The Hawks (48-12) opening the day with three straight victories. First was a 913-987 win against St. Francis Brooklyn. Then, they topped Youngstown State 1,039-992 and Caldwell University 1,081-974.
But a heartbreaker to Monmouth (1,013-1,012) followed and finally a 933-904 loss to Fairleigh Dickinson where no Hawk broke 200.
On Senior Day for the Hawks,
Brigitte Jacobs (Freeport, Illinois) led the way with a five-game average of 211.4 to finish 7
th as an individual. Classmate
Cayla Hicks (Salem, Virginia) posted a five-game average of 208.0.
Junior
Paulina Torres (Ponce Puerto Rico) averaged 201.8 over five games. Freshman
Brooke Roberts (Port Orange, Florida) averaged 200.5 over four games.
The Shore will begin bracket play against No. 6 seed Duquesne.
