PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore volleyball team will face Norfolk State and Howard this weekend (Nov. 8-10) in their final road matches of the season.
The Hawks (10-16, 5-6 MEAC) defeated Delaware State in five sets last Friday (Nov. 1). Sophomore Alexis Lee (Wilmington, Delaware) had 20 kills in the match and junior Ilina Spasova (Sofia, Bulgaria) finished with a double-double as she had 19 kills and 10 digs. The win moved Eastern Shore to fourth in the MEAC northern division.
The Shore defeated Norfolk State in straight sets on Oct. 4. They dropped their match with Howard on Oct. 6 in four sets. Spasova had 15 kills in each match to lead the squad.
After their two matches this weekend, Maryland Eastern Shore will return home to finish the season against Morgan State on Nov. 15 and Coppin State on Nov. 17. The match against Coppin State will serve as senior day for setter Ivana Blazevic (Zagreb, Croatia) and Lidia Chery (Garfield, New Jersey).
