Box Score

DAYTON, Ohio — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore baseball team came up against some treacherous weather and the Eastern Kentucky offense in a 27-8 defeat at Nischwitz Stadium Sunday (Feb. 24). The Hawks record on the season is now 1-7.

Playing in the bitter cold with gale force gusts, the Hawks were dealt a 6-0 hole after the first. Nick Roets (Charlotte, North Carolina) and Dillon Oxyer (Pasadena, Maryland) halved that to 6-3 in the second, but EKU responded with seven unanswered to lead 13-3 after three.

Aaron Schreur (Bloomfield Hills, Michigan) hit The Shore's first home run of the season in the fourth. His blast over the left field wall is also his first as a Division I player.

The offense continued to make strides throughout the game. Brian Cordell (Pasadena, Maryland) added a two run double late, and Michael Warley (Mechanicsville, Virginia) went 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles.

Maryland Eastern Shore opens their home schedule this Friday (Mar. 1) against Fordham.
