DURHAM, North Carolina — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's basketball team will face the North Carolina Central University Eagles for the second time this season on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 9). Tip will be at 4 p.m. The Shore were defeated in the first contest 61-48.
The Hawks (4-21, 2-8 MEAC) dropped their last game versus Savannah State on Feb. 4. Maryland Eastern Shore had three players in double figures and shot 42.6 percent from the field as a team versus the Tigers.
Point guard Bryan Urrutia (Chihuahua, Mexico) had a strong weekend versus South Carolina State (Feb. 2) and Savannah State. The junior averaged 17 points, seven assists and five rebounds.
NC Central (10-13, 5-4 MEAC) is coming off two straight losses to Bethune-Cookman and Florida A&M. The Eagles slid to the fifth spot in the conference following their weekend in Florida.
NCCU is currently first in rebounding margin in the MEAC. That is led by Raasean Davis, who averages 9.2 rebounds per game. Davis is in the top 10 in points and rebounds in the MEAC, but the Hawks held him to two points and seven rebounds in their previous matchup.
