PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's basketball team will play their regular season finale on Thursday evening (March 7) against their Route 13 rival Delaware State University inside the W.P. Hytche Athletic Center. Tip is at 7:30 p.m.
The Hawks (6-24, 4-11 MEAC) won their last time out 78-73 on March 4 versus Morgan State. Six members of the Maryland Eastern Shore squad scored in double figures led by 18 from point guard Bryan Urrutia (Chihuahua, Mexico).
Thursday's game will be the second time the Hawks and Hornets play in the last 12 days. The Shore won the first matchup on Feb. 23 at Delaware State 62-56 behind redshirt junior Isaac Taylor's (Wachapreague, VA) career night of 18 points and nine rebounds. Delaware State was led in the game by Saleik Edwards who had 23 points including seven 3-pointers.
The game will serve as senior night as well for Ryan Andino (Ft. Lauderdale, FL). The grad student received his undergraduate degree in May 2018 and is currently tenth on the all-time scoring list for Maryland Eastern Shore men's basketball with 1,179 points. Andino is also the all-time leader in three point field goals made in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference history.
The contest can be heard locally on Fox Sports 960 AM WTGM and online at EasternShoreHawks.com. Pregame coverage begins with Will DeBoer following the conclusion of the women's game between the Hawks and Hornets.
Eastern Shore is currently the tenth seed for the MEAC Tournament that begins on Monday (March 11) in Norfolk at Scope Arena. The Hawks can get up to as high as the eighth seed with a win. Maryland Eastern Shore cannot drop below the tenth seed which means their first game in the tournament will be on Tuesday (March 12). The time and opponent for the game is still to be determined.
