Hawks ready for crucial series in Norfolk

The Shore faces Spartans looking to makeup ground in MEAC North

PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland — Needing wins, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore baseball team travels to Norfolk State for a three game series this weekend. All games will be played at Marty L. Miller Field starting with a doubleheader at 3 p.m. Friday (April 12), and a third game with a time to be determined.

Fans can watch this weekend for a fee and can follow along with live stats.

The Hawks currently stand two games out of the final tournament spot in the MEAC's Northern Division. However, two of three wins earned so far came against the Spartans. On March 22, The Shore defeated Norfolk State 3-2, followed by an 18-14 slugfest victory the following day.

This weekend's meeting kicks off the second half of the MEAC season. Over the next 12 conference games, the Hawks will face Norfolk State six times and Delaware State and Coppin State three times each. Another challenge for the Hawks is that three of the four series will be on the road.

Maryland Eastern Shore is coming off a 3-2 effort last week, with Brantley Cutler (Washington, North Carolina) winning MEAC Rookie of the Week. This past Wednesday (April 10), the Hawks fell to La Salle by a 13-4 final.
