PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania — Big hits by the University of Pittsburgh buried the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on Wednesday (May 1) with the Hawks falling 26-2 to the Atlantic Coast Conference opponent.
Tyler Woodward (Gaithersburg, Maryland) led the Shore in hits with three singles and a walk, both
Nick Roets (Charlotte, North Carolina) and
Matt Smith (Salisbury, Maryland) drove in runs.
Marcus Brown (Silver Spring, Maryland) was roughed up in the first inning before being replaced on the mound by
Chris Sanders (Pocomoke City, Maryland) who threw four innings while facing 20 batters.
Avery Tunnell (Dover, Delaware) made his second pitching appearance of the season, retiring both batters faced.
The Shore gets back into MEAC action on Friday (May 3), hosting Norfolk State at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium starting at 1 p.m., followed by 1 p.m. contest on Saturday and Sunday
