BROOKLYN, New York — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore volleyball team finished their weekend tournament at St. Francis Brooklyn by dropping a match to the host Terriers in four sets. The scores of the set were 18-25, 25-20, 16-25 and 16-25.
After dropping the first set, the Hawks turned the tide by finishing the second set with a .357 hitting percentage. They also capitalized on five errors from St. Francis Brooklyn to pull away at the end of the set.
The Terriers responded in the final two sets by committing seven errors combined and had 25 kills in the sets as well.
Sophomore Alexis Lee (Wilmington, Delaware) finished the game with a team-high nine kills, while classmate Stella Johnson (Newport News, Virginia) had 16 digs and four aces.
Senior Ivana Blazevic (Zagreb, Croatia) concluded her strong tournament with 27 assists and three blocks in the match. Following the match, she was named to the all-tournament team.
Eastern Shore will be back in action this weekend (Sept. 6-7) as they travel to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania for the Lehigh/Lafayette Crossover Tournament. They will face the University of Pennsylvania, Lehigh and Lafayette over the course of the weekend.
