PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore volleyball team will head to Baltimore this weekend (Sept. 27-29) to face in-state conference opponents Morgan State and Coppin State.
Eastern Shore (5-10) got strong performances from sophomores Alexis Lee (Wilmington, Delaware) and Stella Johnson (Newport News, Virginia) over the past week. Lee had 78 kills during the Hawks five matches, including a career-high 25 kills against Lafayette on Sept. 21. Johnson anchored the defense for the squad as she finished with 85 digs last week.
The Hawks will face the Morgan State University Bears on Friday evening (Sept. 27) at 7 p.m. Sophomore Zoe McBride leads the conference in kills with 220 and kills per set at 4.49. Senior Roi Wallace's 473 assists tops the MEAC.
Maryland Eastern Shore plays the Eagles of Coppin State on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 29) at 3 p.m. Sophomore Miajavon Coleman is third in the conference in kills with 170.
After this weekend, the Hawks return home for a match with Norfolk State on Oct. 4.
