PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore softball team will play in the Spartan Classic Tournament in Spartanburg, South Carolina hosted by University of South Carolina-Upstate this weekend (Feb. 14-16).

Eastern Shore (0-5) will take on UMASS, USC-Upstate, Buffalo and Oakland University over the weekend.

The Hawks are looking for their first win of the season after falling in their games last weekend (Feb. 7-9) at the Gardner-Webb Tournament. Sophomore Kaylyn Sterling (Half Moon Bay, California) had a strong weekend at Gardner-Webb as she hit .455 at the plate including three doubles and two RBIs.

The team's first game will be on Valentine's Day at 1 p.m. against UMASS as they will play the host after that at 3 p.m.

Following their matchups this weekend, Maryland Eastern Shore will be off until they head to the Coastal Carolina Tournament that begins on Feb. 28.
