Eastern Shore Plays Two More Games Tomorrow

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

BOILING SPRINGS, North Carolina — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore softball team dropped two games on Friday (Feb. 7) in the Gardner-Webb University Tournament. They fell to Youngstown State 17-2 and Gardner-Webb 19-1.

"We had a tough day to start the season," Hawks coach Karla Powell said. "Hopefully, we can have a short term memory and get ready for tomorrow."

The Shore saw their new players have some success in the two games. Sophomore Kaylyn Sterling (Half Moon Bay, California) scored a run in each game. Freshman Tyanna Roberts (Woodbridge, Virginia) scored the other run for the team.

Sophomore Alona Robillard (Lake Wales, Florida) logged time at third base, pitcher and catcher. She pitched one and 1/3 innings in game one and two innings in the second game.

Maryland Eastern Shore will begin play in day two of the tournament tomorrow (Feb. 8) with a matchup against Canisius at 10 a.m. They will follow that with another game against Youngstown State at noon.
