WASHINGTON, D.C. — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's basketball team will face the Howard University Bison on Monday evening (March 2) at 7:30 p.m. in their final regular season game away from home.
Eastern Shore (5-24, 4-10 MEAC) will be playing Howard for the second time this season on Monday. The Hawks came out victorious on Jan. 4 inside the Hytche Center by a score of 78-66.
The Shore comes into their game with the Bison this time looking for their first win since Feb. 17. They dropped their last three games to North Carolina Central, North Carolina A&T and Delaware State. The team played those three games without the services of much of their rotation due to illness. Maryland Eastern Shore is back to full strength now as the calendar has turned to March.
Senior AJ Cheeseman (Snellville, Georgia) has emerged as the squad's go-to scorer over the past month. He has scored in double figures in the last eight games and is averaging 13.4 points per game in conference play. He had 17 points and seven rebounds in the first matchup with HU this season.
Howard (2-27, 0-14 MEAC) is still looking for their first conference win of the season. They are led by the MEAC's all-time leading scorer Charles Williams. Williams is averaging 18.2 points and 4.4 rebounds per outing this season.
The matchup can be heard on Facebook Live at Eastern Shore Hawks with Will DeBoer on the call. Coverage will begin after the conclusion of the women's game between the Hawks and Bison.
The Hawks return home for their regular season finale on Thursday (March 5) against Coppin State. That game will serve as senior day for Cheeseman, Bryan Urrutia (Chihuahua, Mexico), Gabriel Gyamfi (Brampton, Ontario), Ahmad Frost (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Jacob McIntosh (Finksburg, Maryland).
