PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's basketball team will play their final game of the regular season on Thursday evening (March 5) at 7:30 p.m. against the Coppin State University Eagles inside the William P. Hytche Center.
The game will serve as senior day for the Hawks. The team will honor the careers of AJ Cheeseman (Snellville, Georgia), Bryan Urrutia (Chihuahua, Mexico), Gabriel Gyamfi (Brampton, Ontario, Canada), Jacob McIntosh (Finksburg, Maryland) and Ahmad Frost (Cincinnati, Ohio).
Thursday will be the second time the Hawks and Eagles face off this season. Coppin State came out on top with a 68-67 win in overtime on Feb. 10. Cheeseman scored 17 points that evening to lead the Hawks in scoring.
Maryland Eastern Shore is looking for a win to lock up the No. 8 seed in the MEAC Tournament for the second season in a row. A win against the Eagles will give Eastern Shore the No. 8 spot, while a loss could drop the team to the No. 9 seed depending on the results of Howard at Delaware State.
The Shore will play their next game on Tuesday (March 10) at 6 p.m. in the first round of the MEAC Tournament at Scope Arena in Norfolk. If they advance to the quarterfinals, the next game will be Wednesday (March 11) at 6 p.m. against the No. 1 seed in the tournament.
