PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore volleyball team will play the final two conference opponents that they have not seen yet this season this weekend. The Shore travels to Baltimore to take on Coppin State on Friday (October 15) at 6 p.m. and host Morgan State on Sunday (October 17) at 2 p.m.
Eastern Shore (8-8, 3-2 MEAC) is currently in a four-way tie for second place in the conference standings. The Hawks, Coppin State, Howard and North Carolina Central have all won three conference matches and are trailing Delaware State, who remains unbeaten in MEAC play at 6-0.
The Hawks are going into the weekend after winning two straight matches. They swept S.C. State and N.C. Central last weekend as they boasted a balanced attack. Sophomore Maya Hendricks had 12 kills to lead the team against SCSU, while seniors Marina Cruz and Alexis Lee had 12 and 11 kills respectively versus NCCU to lead the attack of the Hawks.
The Shore has dropped their last three matchups with the Eagles of Coppin State. Their last win against them was in October 2018. CSU has two of the top four players in the conference in kills per set in Miajavon Coleman and Paolo Caten at first and fourth respectively.
Maryland Eastern Shore and Morgan State have split the last four matches. Freshman Madison Grace leads the Bears offense as she sits at third in the MEAC in kills per set.
Fans can watch and follow along with live stats for both matches this weekend. Links for all streams and stats will be on the Hawks website easternshorehawks.com on the volleyball schedule page.
