PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland — In their third straight game away from the Hytche Center, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's basketball team will take on the Liberty University Flames on Saturday (November 27) at 5 p.m.
"I think this is another game that is going to be about us (and what we do) especially during this long road trip," head coach Jason Crafton said. "Liberty is a well-coached team and it's always fun to play down there in that fun environment, but the focus will stay on us."
The last time the Hawks (2-3) took the floor they fell to Campbell 66-55 on November 24. Senior Zion Styles scored 10 points to lead the team in points and was followed by freshman Chace Davis who had nine.
After five games, Eastern Shore leads the MEAC in free throw shooting percentage. The Hawks shoot 71% from the line as a team with Styles shooting 81.5% from the charity stripe which is sixth in the MEAC.
"We have been telling our guys that we want to get to the line 15 or more times a game and shoot 75% or better," Crafton said. "We are heavily reliant on the three so I think the free throw line will be important for us every night."
Liberty is coming off a 59-51 win over former MEAC member Bethune-Cookman on November 23. They got 27 points from their senior leader Darius McGhee against BCU as he is the team's top scorer for the season with an average of 18.2 points per game.
The contest will not be broadcast, but it can be listened to via radio. The game will also have live stats. Links for the audio and stats for the game can be found on the Hawks website easternshorehawks.com on the men's basketball schedule page.
