PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland — After nine days away from competition, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's basketball team will be looking to keep up their winning ways on Monday night (December 20) as they take on the University of North Carolina Charlotte 49ers. The game will tip off at 7 p.m. inside Halton Arena in Charlotte.
The Hawks (5-5) will be looking to win their fourth straight game at Charlotte. The team won their last three games against Lehigh and division III opponents Clarks Summit and St. Mary's College of Maryland. A win on Monday night will put the team above .500 for the first time since the 2017-18 season and give them their first four game win streak since the 2015-16 campaign.
Maryland Eastern Shore will need to contain 49ers junior Jahmir Young to keep their streak alive. The Upper Marlboro native leads Charlotte in scoring at 20.1 points per game. That number places him at 20th in the NCAA in scoring.
This past week Eastern Shore had two weekly award winners based on their play against Clarks Summit and St. Mary's. Senior Nathaniel Pollard, Jr. won MEAC Player of the Week after averaging 17.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in the games. Freshman Chace Davis was named MEAC Rookie of the Week after averaging 10 points a game off the bench in those two contests.
Following their game with Charlotte, the Hawks will have a quick turnaround as they travel to George Washington for a game with a noon tipoff on Wednesday (December 22).
