NEWNAN, Georgia — In its second outing of the season, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's golf team finished in eighth place over the weekend (September 24-25) in the HBCU Invitational at the Summer Grove Golf Club in Newnan, Georgia.
Sophomore Tyler McDonald and freshman Logan Kiley were atop the scoring for the Hawks for the second straight tournament. McDonald finished the event tied for 14th after posting a 150 (+6) for the tournament with rounds of 74 and 76. Kiley ended up tied for 16th after shooting 151 (+7) with scores of 76 and 75.
Juniors Thabang Moephuli and Jayden Williams as well as freshman E Brooks each made their season debuts in Georgia. Moephuli finished the event with a 153 (+9) including posting the team's best round of the weekend when he hit a 73 in round one. Brooks posted a 163 (+19) for the event, while Williams had a 168 (+24).
The Hawks will be back in action October 16-18 in the Howard Bison Invitational. That tournament will be played at the Woodmont Country Club.
