Eastern Shore Travels To Baltimore for Pivotal Game at Morgan State

Hawks Look For Their Third Straight Win Monday Night

PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland — As cliché as it may sound, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's basketball team will play their biggest game of the season on Monday night (February 28) as they travel to Baltimore to take on the Morgan State University Bears.

The Hawks and Bears are separated by ½ a game in the MEAC standings with two games left to play for each team. Eastern Shore is currently sixth and Morgan State is fifth. The winner of Monday's game will have the inside track to the fifth seed in the MEAC Tournament that begins on March 9.

The Shore (10-13, 5-7 MEAC) won their second straight game yesterday (February 26) as they defeated Coppin State 70-50. The squad shot 50.9% from the field in the game as they were led by junior Kevon Voyles and his career-high 17 points. The game also saw the squad's leading scorer, junior Dom London, return to the lineup as he played 22 minutes and scored six points off the bench.

When Maryland Eastern Shore and Morgan State faced off the first time this season at the Hytche Center, the Hawks were victorious 79-72. Senior Donchevell "Tuka" Nugent had 23 points off the bench that night, while senior Nathaniel Pollard, Jr. had 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Monday night will also be an attempt by the Bears to win their third straight game as well. They defeated the conference's top team, Norfolk State, 85-74 on February 21 before defeating Delaware State 76-69 in their last game.

The game will tip off at approximately 7:30 p.m. following the matchup between the women's teams from the two schools. The Shore will conclude their season on Thursday (March 3) with a game against Delaware State.
