PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland — For the second time in three days, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore softball team will be playing a school from a Power Five conference on Thursday (March 17).
After playing Syracuse from the ACC on Tuesday, the Hawks will be playing the Rutgers University Scarlet Knights out of the Big Ten for a doubleheader tomorrow. The games will begin at 9 a.m. in Piscataway, New Jersey.
Eastern Shore will be looking to end a four game skid at Rutgers. The team has struggled at the plate during the last four games as they have only 14 total hits in those games. They had 11 in their last win versus Purdue Fort Wayne on March 5.
The Scarlet Knights are 16-9 on the season and won their last game versus New Mexico State 6-3 on March 13. The two teams have two common opponents this season. Rutgers defeated Cornell 3-0 earlier this season on February 27 and will play Drexel later this season. The Hawks will face both of those teams in April.
Following the two games with Rutgers, Maryland Eastern Shore will begin conference play. Their first MEAC series of the season will be on March 19-20 at home against their Route 13 rival Delaware State.
