Hawks Open MEAC Play With Delaware State Series

Weekend Series Will Be Played In Salisbury

PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore softball team will play their first conference games of the season this weekend (March 19-20) against the Delaware State University Hornets.

The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. They will follow that with a single game on Sunday starting at noon. All the games will be played at Henry S. Parker Athletic Complex in Salisbury.

Eastern Shore (3-17) is coming off one of the biggest wins in recent memory on March 17 when they won 4-3 at Rutgers. The team was down for most of the game until they tied the game at two via a Julia Garcia homer in the sixth inning. They would go ahead an inning later on an RBI single by sophomore Tatum Kresley.

Delaware State is coming into the series this weekend with a 1-13 record. Their lone win came against Elon on March 13.

Following the series with Delaware State, The Shore will travel to the University of Pennsylvania on Wednesday (March 23) for a doubleheader.
