Hawks Look To Get Back On Track at Howard

Eastern Shore Sits Fourth in MEAC Standings

PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore softball team will be looking to get back to their winning ways this weekend (April 23-24) as they take on the Howard University Bison.

The two teams will play three games. The first two will be a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. The series finale will be on Sunday at noon. The Hawks (14-27, 10-5 MEAC) are in fourth place in the MEAC standings, while Howard (21-19, 12-3 MEAC) is in a three-way tie for first with Morgan State and Norfolk State.

Eastern Shore comes into their games with HU after dropping five games straight. Before this recent slump, the squad had won 12 out of their last 17 games. A series win over the Bison will go a long way for The Shore in seeding for the MEAC Tournament that begins on May 11.

Maryland Eastern Shore and Howard are the top two hitting teams in the conference. Each team has a batting average of .296 this season. As for pitching, Howard is ranked third and the Hawks are fourth.

After this weekend, the Hawks will travel to George Mason for a midweek doubleheader on Wednesday (April 27) starting at 2 p.m.
