Eastern Shore Falls To Howard in Rubber Match

Hawks Face George Mason for Midweek Doubleheader Wednesday

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The University of Maryland Eastern Shore softball team ended up on the wrong end of their game with the Howard University Bison on Sunday (April 24) as they dropped the game 6-1.

"We weren't able to get the W today because of a few mistakes, but I still saw some things that we can build on for the next few weeks, even if the box score doesn't show it," head coach Karla Ross said.

Howard had a big second inning where they scored four runs. They added two more in the third to take a 6-0 lead after three innings.

The Shore scored their lone run in the sixth inning. Sophomore Tatum Kresley singled up the middle to begin the inning and then stole second to get in scoring position. She would eventually score on an RBI groundout by sophomore Julia Garcia.

The team had three hits in the game coming from a double by sophomore Kelsie Ekstrom in the first inning and a single by graduate student Nasya Goodman in the fourth.

Maryland Eastern Shore will play their next games on Wednesday (April 27) when they travel to George Mason for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
