Hawks grounded in three set loss to Coppin State
PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore's four match winning streak came to an end on Sunday in a three-set loss to the Eagles of Coppin State.
CSU won with scores of 25-20, 25-14, and 25-23. 
With Sunday's result, UMES is now 12-9 overall and 5-4 in the MEAC. CSU improves to 18-3 on the season and 8-0 in the conference.
Extending their winning streak to seven matches, the Eagles combined for 40 kills and 12 errors on 89 attacks for a hitting percentage of .315 compared to the UMES performance of 31 kills and 16 errors on 92 attacks totalling a .163 percentage.
TaKenya Stafford led the Eagle offense with 11 kills while Laila Ibrahim recorded 10. Andrea Tsetanova was impressive with 27 assists along with six aces.
Nkemjika Ikemefuna highlighted the Hawk efforts with nine kills. 
Soleil Cotton had four blocks.
UMES continues conference play at Norfolk State on Friday at 6 pm. The Hawks enter Friday's match in fourth place in the MEAC standings while NSU (8-8;7-2) sits in second place behind CSU.
