Hawks unable to keep up with Seawolves
PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore lost to Stony Brook at home on Wednesday night, 76-63.

The loss drops UMES to 1-3 overall while SBU improves to a perfect 3-0 to start the year.

The Hawks fell behind by double digits early on as the Seawolves went on a 9-0 run in the first quarter to lead 15-4. UMES trimmed the margin down to seven by the end of the opening quarter.

SBU rebounded in the second quarter with a 6-0 run capped by a Kelis Corley three-pointer to go up by 14. At the half, the Hawks trailed, 44-31.

UMES fell behind by as many as 19 in the third quarter before battling back as three-pointers from Jala Bannerman and
Mya Thomas helped the Hawks pull within 10, 65-55, with 6:02 to play. The Hawk offense was held without a point over the next four minutes of play as the deficit grew to as many as 15 before Stony Brook claimed the 13-point win.

Khari Clark led the Seawolves with 21 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks. Victoria Keenan added 16 points off the bench.

Bannerman was a bright spot for the Hawks with a team-high 15 points which all came from beyond the arc with a five-for-seven performance.
Mahogany Lester had 13 points and five rebounds while being an efficient four-of-six from the floor and making all five free throw attempts.

The Hawks will host George Washington on Saturday at 4 pm.
