Hawks open Track Kat Klash with four wins

HOUSTON, Texas -Â Returning to the lanes for this week's Track Kat Klash in Houston, Texas, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore bowling team went 4-1 in the opening day of competition.
With Friday's performance, the Hawks are currently in fourth place in the 16-team field. As a team, UMES had a combined total pin count of 5,156 and an average of 206.2. Louisiana Tech is currently leading the event with 5,379 pins and an average of 215.2.
The Hawks began Friday with a 1002-745 win over Alabama State.
In the second match of the day, the Hawks beat ninth ranked Maryville thanks to a season-high score of 1098 to Maryville's 929 total.
After falling to tenth ranked Louisiana Tech by a score of 1088 to 954, the Hawks rallied with a 1090 to 703 win over Texas Southern and a 1012 to 812 victory over Central Missouri.
Improving to 13-5 overall this season, the twelfth ranked Hawks will resume play on Saturday.
Saturday's matches include opponents Sam Houston State, North Carolina A&T, Grambling, Oklahoma Christian and Lewis.
