RICHMOND, Virginia - Playing in their sixth consecutive road game, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks contended with the Rams of Virginia Commonwealth before a late 15-1 run by VCU ultimately doomed UMES in Friday's 75-51 loss.

With Friday's result, UMES is now 2-8 overall while VCU improves to 7-5 on the season.

UMES struggled from the field, ending the game with a 33 percent (19-of-57) shooting percentage, including 25 percent (5-of-20) from beyond the 3-point line. In addition to a lackluster performance from the field, the Hawks converted a season-low 53.3 percent from the free throw line (8-of-15).

VCU shot 49 percent (27-of-55) from the floor. The Hawks were also outrebounded, 41-32, and were outscored in the paint, 40-24.

Five VCU players scored in double-figures led by Max Shulga's 14 points.
