NORFOLK, Virginia – The University of Maryland Eastern Shore track and field team is returning home from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championships with some hardware after a solid showing over the three-day meet that finalized on Thursday, May 11.
Overall, the men's side took fourth and the women finished in eighth.
The Hawks were excellent in the men's 200m, 400m and 4x400m thanks to the trio of

With the addition of
Destiny Emuze in the 4x400m, the Hawks took first in the pinnacle event of the meet at 3:09.10 – the top time for the program since 2014.
In the men's 800m,
David Martin finished just outside of a podium finish at fourth, running a 1:54.84 in his first year at UMES.
Spencer Settle was able to grab the Hawks a few points in the women's 400m hurdles with a fifth-place finish that qualified her for the upcoming IC4A/ECAC Meet.
In the field,
Faithlyn Irving was a star at her first MEAC Championship appearance. The junior took third in the high and triple jumps at 1.63m and 12.37m to bring home two bronzes.
Throwing in on of his final meets as a Hawk,
