Delano Lawrence wins gold; highlights UMES efforts at MEAC Championships
NORFOLK, Virginia - The University of Maryland Eastern Shore medaled in four events at this past weekend's MEAC Outdoor Championships which included a gold by freshman 
Delano Lawrence.
Lawrence picked up his fourth victory of the outdoor season in the discus with a throw of 52.61m to take the top spot on the podium. Lawrence is currently ranked 29th regionally in the event with his season best mark of 55.62m set at the Penn Relays in April.
In addition to Lawrence's gold, the UMES track program picked up three MEAC silver medals. After running a personal record of 13.75 in the 110 meter hurdles prelims, Yourie Lawrence-Clarke finished in second in the 110H final with a pace of 13.76. Lawrence-Clarke's time in the MEAC prelims currently has him ranked 32nd in the East region. Fidelis Osunkwo was second in the 800 meter race with a pace of 1:53.38. 
The 4 x 100 meter relay team of 
Tyrese Golston, 
Andie Kollie, 
Caleb Goslee and 
Kennis Welch ran a new season best time of 40.20 and finished in second place.
UMES will await the announcement on qualifiers for the NCAA East Regional in Jacksonville, Florida.
