Hawks Fall to Howard

SUMMARY
The Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks fell to Howard University on Sunday afternoon, 0-3.

Junior Nkemjika Ikemefuna led the Hawks with eight kills, while sophomore Anisa Dorlouis contributed 16 assists and 19 digs, topping the defensive efforts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hawks (6-9, 0-3 MEAC) put together their best performance of the match in the second set with a hitting percentage of .135 with 11 kills and reducing their turnovers. 

In the final set, UMES went on a 5-0 run while trailing 23-13 to cut the Bison's lead to six. However, the Hawks couldn't close the comeback efforts and ultimately fell to the Bison (10-5, 4-0 MEAC). 

THE NUMBERS

  • Junior Anjola Omolewa and freshman Lilliana Montes led the Hawks in blocks with five each.
  • Dorlouis recorded her 10th double-double of the season with 16 assists and 19 digs.
  • Freshman Rayah Howell ended the match with four blocks.

The Hawks continue their home stretch against conference foe South Carolina State (1-12, 0-3 MEAC) on Friday, Oct. 11, at 6 p.m.
