Hawks glide to 88-55 win over Bryn Athyn

SUMMARY -- The University of Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks cruised to a 88-55 win over Bryn Athyn on Saturday as 12 UMES players scored in the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED

 
The Hawks shot 54% from the field in the first half and jumped out to a double digit lead midway thanks to an 11-0 scoring run. Troy Hupstead did most of his scoring in the first 20 minutes of play with 10 points as the Hawks took a 43-27 lead into intermission.
 

The UMES lead crept up to as many as 21 by the midway point of the second half and UMES cruised to victory by ending the game on a 13-0 scoring run to seal their seventh victory of the year on their home floor.

BY THE NUMBERS

 

The Hawks are now 7-3 on their home floor this season.

 
Troy Hupstead, Damani Claxton and Toby Nnadozie led a balanced UMES offense with 12 points each.

 
UMES committed just nine turnovers on Saturday – the second lowest turnover count of the season.

 
UMES held Bryn Athyn to zero bench points while the Hawk reserves scored 46.

 
UMES grabbed it's second highest rebound total of 47 to Bryn Athyn's 26. Saturday's 21 plus rebounding margin in rebounding in the best of the year.

 
Saturday was the third time the Hawks have held a team under 60 points this season.

"We did what we were supposed to do tonight. We did a good job of rebounding and taking care of the basketball tonight."
 

"We were able to build a lead early on which gave us a chance to get some other guys in the game. I thought our guys did a good job of making the most out of their minutes tonight while giving important rest for some of our starters."
 

"Toby (Nnadozie) came in ready to go tonight. He is always ready to play hard and continues to be consistent with his energy."
 

"As we move forward, I continue to look for more consistency from our team for the full forty minutes."
