HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Hawks opened the Vern Stallings Invitational with a narrow, three-point win over UAB 918-915.
• UMES followed up with a pair of losses to #12 Tulane and then to top-ranked #1 Jacksonville State. 
• After the setbacks, the Hawks rebounded with a win over Texas Southern.
• In the final matchup of the day, UMES took on fellow MEAC opponent and #4 ranked NC A&T; but fell to the Aggies to finish the day with a 2-3 record

BY THE NUMBERS

• It was not the first time that the Hawks took on two top-5 opponents on the first day of an invitational (Northeast Classic)
