HOW IT HAPPENED

Austin Peay continued to swing a hot bat going for the three game sweep of the Hawks. AP scored five runs in the first inning highlighted by a three-run homerun by Justin Olson to right field. UMES scored off a Derek Mayes II bunt combined with an AP throwing error at the top of the second before the Governors tacked on six more runs in the bottom of the second inning.

Clayton Gray began Austin Peay's seven-run unanswered burst with a leadoff home run in the sixth. John Bay then provided the next two runs with singles in the sixth and eighth innings. Third baseman Jaden Brown pushed the Govs lead to nine runs with his eighth-inning sacrifice fly. But Olson completed the win with a two-run home run down the right field line, completing the run-rule victory.
