HOW IT HAPPENED
UMBC jumped out to a six run lead highlighted by an Anthony Swenda three run home run in the top of the second. UMBC added another run in the sixth sparked by a Matt Ryan double which was lined to center field. Three more runs by UMBC in the seventh inning were scored on Justin Taylor single that slipped through the UMES outfield as the margin ballooned to 10-0.
While managing to get runners in scoring position in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings, the Hawks were unable to generate any runs before UMBC sat down all three Hawk batters in the seventh inning to end the game.
BY THE NUMBERS
Logan Wiley recorded the win for UMBC with three innings pitched while giving up just one hit.
Justin Spencer pitched 4.1 innings in the loss for the Hawks while giving up six runs.
Jayden Shertel led UMBC from the plate with four hits while Anthony Swenda had three RBI.
Five Hawks recorded one hit each. No UMES player had an extra base hit on Tuesday.

"We did not have a good level of energy today. I thought we were flat throughout the ballgame."
"We continue to have opportunities to generate runs. I think we have been trying to do a little too much at the plate in those moments. We have to be better at putting the ball in play and finding ways to advance the runners."
