SUMMARY
Late game situations continue to hinder the Hawks as the University of Maryland Eastern Shore surrendered nine runs in the eighth inning to lose 13-4 to Central Connecticut State on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
A wild pitch resulted in the first run of the game as CCSU went up 1-0 in the second inning. CCSU added two more runs in the inning as Brady Short hit a two run double and another wild pitch put CCSU up 3-0. 
UMES cut into the lead in the fifth inning thanks to a sacrifice fly by 
Jason Brown to bring home 
Ryan Davis. The Hawks pulled to within one run on a wild pitch to end the scoring in the inning.  Brown would cross homeplate in the seventh inning on a fielder's choice to tie the game, 3-3. Later in the inning, 
Bronson Taylor singled to right field to score 
Anders Brown as the Hawks went up, 4-3. 
CCSU regained control of the game with a nine-run eighth inning highlighted by homeruns from Joe Rios and Hunter Pasqualini.
THE NUMBERS
UMES totaled six hits on Saturday with third baseman 
Ulysses Luciano going 2-for-3 from the plate while drawing two walks.
Of CCSU's 13 runs, eight were unearned.
The Hawks have struggled in late game situations as UMES has given up 40 runs in the seventh inning or later over the span of the last seven games,

The Hawks end the weekend series at Central Connecticut State on Sunday. The game has been moved up to a 12 pm start time.
