The Short Story:Â Runs were at a premium early in the MEAC series finale between the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and North Carolina Central before the Eagles opened the gates for the run-rule win over the Hawks on Sunday afternoon at the Henry S. Parker Athletic Complex in Salsibury

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first three innings saw both teams play a defensive battle by not allowing run to be scored.
- The Eagles would hit the board first in the top of the fourth with an eight-run outburst. NCCU took the lead on those runs off of six hits and a pair of Hawk errors.Â
- The visitors would add three more runs on three hits in the top of fifth, taking an 11-0 lead into the bottom of the frame.
- With two outs, Holt hit a single to the shortstop in the first of three straight hits for the Hawks. Hodge followed had a short single to the catch and Moutnain had single to second that loaded the bases. Ekstrom would reach on a catcher's interference calling, scoring Holt. NCCU would induce a ground out to end the game, 11-1.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Mountain went 2-for-2 at the plate for the Hawks while Holt went 1-for 2 with a run scored.                                         .
