PRINCESS ANNE, Maryland – University of Maryland Eastern Shore triple jumper Malachi Aiken ended a historic season by earning USTFCCCA All-America honors.

Aiken, who represented UMES at last week's NCAA Track and Field Outdoor National Championships in Oregon, finished in 15th place with a mark of 15.66 meters on the national stage to earn the USTFCCCA's Second Team honors.

Athletes of member institutions earned First-Team All-America status by finishing among the top-8 of their events at the National Championships. Second-Team All-America honors went to those student-athletes who finished between ninth and 16th place. Honorable mention went to those student-athletes who finished 17th through 24th in their respective events at Hayward Field.

A junior from Brooklyn, New York, Aiken set the school record in the event during the NCAA East Regional Championships with a leap of 15.77. He was also the first Hawk track and field athlete to qualify for the national stage since 2017.

He finished the outdoor season with five finishes in the top five along with first place finishes at the Morgan State Legacy Meet and the Navy Outdoor Invitational.
