Previewing Norfolk State

• The Norfolk State Spartans went 0-2 last weekend, falling to Morgan State in four sets and Coppin State in three sets

• Hawks lead the series 31-9 over the Spartans since 2005 

• Hawks longest win streak in the series was 15 straight from 2014 to 2021 

• UMES has eliminated Norfolk State from the MEAC Tournament  in each of the last three seasons

Previewing Howard

• The Howard Bison went 1-1 last weekend, falling to Coppin State in five sets and defeating Morgan State in five sets.

• The Bison lead the series over the Hawks 21-20 since 2005

• It is a streaky series in which UMES won 10 straight from from 2005-2010 while Howard won eight straight from 2013 to 2016

• Lilliana Montes led the Hawks with 25 kills last weekend. She ranks third in the MEAC with a .342 attack percentage. Montes also ranks fifth in the MEAC in total blocks with 41.

• Jayda Hutchins ranks fourth in the MEAC in assists with 331

• Karielys Melendez ranks second in the MEAC in service aces with 26

• Valeria Matias is second in the MEAC with 238 digs

• Matias is the third player in UMES women's volleyball recorded history to eclipse 1000 digs in her career. Matias joins UMES All-Time Dig Leader Caylin Woodward (1313 digs) and 2020 MEAC Hall of Famer and two-time MEAC Player of the Year Jana Milin (1062 digs) as Hawks to reach this milestone.

• Nkemjika Ikemefuna holds the single game high in the MEAC for kills in a 3-set match and 4-set match with 19.
