Previewing South Carolina State

• South Carolina State lost to North Carolina Central at home in straight sets last weekend. They play a non-conference match against Claflin on Wednesday.

• Hawks lead the series 14-2 over the Bulldogs since 2010

• The Hawks swept the Bulldogs on the road in their prior matchup this season on Sept. 26

Previewing North Carolina Central

• North Carolina Central defeated South Carolina State in straight sets last weekend before falling to Gardner Webb last Monday in four sets in a non-conference game.

• The Hawks lead the series 17-4 over the Eagles since 2007

• Since 2007, The Hawks are 10-0 at home against the Eagles

• UMES beat NCCU in five sets on the road on Sept. 28, 2025

• Senior Middle Blocker Anjola Omolewa sits just 38 kills away from 500 in her career. Her teammate, Nkemjika Ikemefuna, is the only other active Hawk to have recorded 500 kills for UMES. 

• Karielys Melendez also has eclipsed 500 career kills with 388 of them generated during her two seasons at Pace University.

• UMES is third in the MEAC in team blocks per set with 1.83

• Lilliana Montes is third in the MEAC with a .326 attack percentage. Omolewa is also in the top ten, sitting at eighth with a .238 percentage

• Jayda Hutchins is third in the MEAC with 409 assists.

• Melendez is third in the MEAC with 31 service aces. Hutchins is right behind Melendez, placing fourth in the MEAC with 29, while Kate-Linh Eden is seventh in the league with 23

• Montes and Omolewa are fourth and fifth in the MEAC in total blocks with 52 and 48 respectively

• Valeria Matias is second in the MEAC in digs with 310 and digs per set with 3.97 per frame. Going into this weekend, she sits 232 digs away from breaking the all-time UMES record
