Previewing Norfolk State

• The Norfolk State Spartans went 1-1 last weekend, defeating Morgan State and losing to Coppin State

• Hawks lead the series 32-9 over the Spartans since 2005 

• Hawks longest win streak in the series was 15-straight from 2014 to 2021 

• UMES has eliminated Norfolk State from the MEAC Tournament three straight seasons

• The Hawks defeated Norfolk State in five sets in their first matchup on Oct. 3

Previewing Howard

• The Howard Bison went 0-2 last weekend, falling to Coppin State and Morgan State on the road.

• Since 2005, the series is tied 21-21

• It is a streaky series in which UMES won 10 straight from from 2005-2010 while Howard won eight straight from 2013 to 2016

• The Hawks defeated Howard in five sets in their last matchup on Oct. 5

• Freshman hitter Malaysia Shaw was named MEAC Rookie of the Week after delivering 19 kills and nine digs last weekend

• Rayah Howell is coming off of two straight matches of a career-high 11 kills
