Hawks Battle for First in the MEAC with Coppin State and Morgan State

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. and BALTIMORE, Md. - Maryland Eastern Shore hosts Coppin State and faces Morgan State on the road.

The Coppin State Eagles finished off a three-game home stand by going 2-0 last weekend, defeating North Carolina Central in four sets and South Carolina State in straight sets
The Eagles and Hawks are currently tied for first, so the winner of the matchup will have sole possession of first place in the conference
Since 2004, UMES leads the series 22-18 over Coppin State
The series has been very streaky with both teams sustaining a 13-game win streak over the other at one point

The Morgan State Bears went 2-0 last weekend, defeating North Carolina Central in five sets and South Carolina State in straight sets

Matias is the third player in UMES women's volleyball recorded history to eclipse 1000 digs in her career. Matias joins UMES All-Time Dig Leader Caylin Woodward (1313 digs) and 2020 MEAC Hall of Famer and two-time MEAC Player of the Year Jana Milin (1062 digs) as Hawks to reach this milestone.
Anjola Omolewa ranks eighth in the MEAC with a .245 attack percentage
Nkemjika Ikemefuna holds the single game high in the MEAC for kills in a 3-set match with 19.
