SUMMARY
The Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks dropped game two of the series to the Stonehill Skyhawks, 10-2, in a game where the Skyhawks led wire-to-wire.Â
THE SCORE
Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks - 2
Stonehill Skyhawks - 10
(Series tied 1-1)
HOW IT HAPPENED
Despite the Hawks playing a clean game in the field, two three-run home runs by Stonehill in the first and second innings provided a strong cushion for Skyhawks. After recording one hit in each of the first two innings, Maryland Eastern Shore were held without a hit from the third through the sixth inning. The only score UMES had came from a two-RBI single from Jonathan Rodriguez in the seventh inning. After a dominant win in game one by the Maroon and Grey, Stonehill responded with an eight-run win in game two, 10-2.
THE NUMBERS
The Hawks totaled two runs on six hits and no errors while the Skyhawks recorded 10 runs on eight hits and two errors.
Jonathan Rodriguez finished 1-for-4 at the plate with 2 RBI. These were the first career RBI for the freshman second baseman.Â
Jonathan Gonzalez Perez finished 2-for-4 at the plate. Gonzalez is now 7-for-9 at the plate in this series.
UP NEXT
With this loss, the Hawks fall to 4-17 (3-5) on the season. Maryland Eastern Shore will look to earn their second conference series win of the season on Sunday at Noon against Stonehill. The third game of the series will switch venues from Providence, Rhode Island to Lou Gorman Field in Easton, Massachusetts.Â
