How it Happened
Game one

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore fell to Howard, 6-1, in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader at Henry S. Parker Athletic Complex, marking the Hawks' third Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference series loss of the season.

The Bison jumped to an early 2-0 lead in the first, executing a double steal to bring home the game's first run. A fielding error extended the inning, allowing another run to cross.

UMES threatened in the fourth and fifth innings but was unable to capitalize. In the fifth, the Hawks put runners on second and third with no outs but left both stranded. Howard extended its lead in the top half of the fifth, scoring three times—first on a wild pitch, followed by a two-run single to push the deficit to 5-0.

Mountain provided a spark in the sixth, leading off with a double down the right-field line. She later scored on a fielding error by the shortstop, putting the Hawks on the board. However, UMES was unable to build momentum, going scoreless in the final frame as Howard secured the win.

Mountain led the Hawks at the plate, going 2-for-3. Freshman Clarke Calvin, juniors Paige Perkins and Ella Falcetti, and Abiley each recorded a hit. Freshman Kassidy Oneail started in the circle, striking out four in five innings of work, while sophomore Paris Richards and junior Emily Gunther combined for two innings of relief.

Game two
Despite late efforts, UMES fell 7-2 in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader.
Howard took a quick 2-0 lead in the first after a two-out, two-RBI single to right field. The Bison capitalized on UMES miscues in the second, plating four more runs—including three unearned—off a pair of errors and timely hits to extend their lead to 6-0.

UMES broke through in the fifth inning. A leadoff walk by Abiley followed by another free pass to Gunther putting two runners on. After an error at second base allowed Abiley to score, a second defensive miscue on a grounder by junior DeNae Ojeda brought Gunther home, cutting the deficit to 6-2.

Howard added an insurance run in the seventh on an RBI single to make it 7-2. The Hawks attempted a two-out rally in the bottom of the inning when Mountain singled, but a strikeout ended the game.

Abiley led UMES at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a walk, while Gunther and Ojeda each reached base twice.
