PRINCESS ANNE, MD. – The Maryland Eastern Shore baseball team was named as a recipient of the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award.
According to the ABCA website, the Team Academic Excellence Award recognizes, "high school and college programs coached by ABCA members that post a cumulative Grade Point Average over 3.0 on a 4.0 scale."
As a team, the Maryland Eastern Shore baseball team recorded a 3.23 team GPA for the spring semester. 28 UMES baseball student athletes were named to the NEC Spring Honor Roll for posting a GPA at 3.0 or above. In addition, six of those students were named to the prestigious NEC Spring Commissioner's Honor Roll for achieving a GPA above 3.75.Â
"We are proud of our student athletes and the entire Maryland Eastern Shore student community," shared Head Coach Danny Acosta.Â
The Hawk baseball team was one of just three Northeast Conference (NEC) teams to earn this distinction. The full list of ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award Recipients is listed below:
