Jepngetich Named MEAC Runner of the Week

2024 All-MEAC selection Rebecca Jepngetich was named MEAC Runner of the Week following her first-place performance at the Delaware State Invitational in Smyrna, Del., on Friday, Sept. 12. The sophomore claimed the top spot in the women's 5K with a time of 19:17.38 seconds.

After the race, UMES cross country and track and field coach Sharlene Milwood-Lee praised Jepngetich's strong start to the 2025 campaign.

"Rebecca did a good job executing her race. We're excited because last week was tough — we were overloading, and everyone was running tired. For her to come out and pull off the win is really great. It's a testament to the hard work the team has been putting in this year, and it shows that effort pays off. We're excited for the upcoming meets as well."

The Hawks return to action Saturday, Sept. 20, when they host the Soaring Hawk Invite. The women's race is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
