Roman paces Hawks; UMES finishes eighth at Boston College Red Bandanna Invitational


VERONA, New York - The 2025 fall golf season began with an eighth place finish the the University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's golf program at this past weekend's Red Bandanna Invitational in Verona, New York.


Competing on the 7100 yard plus layout of the Turning Stone Resort, the UMES lineup struggled to a first round score of 336 before bouncing back with a combined score of 307 in the second round to jump up from last place to eighth in the 11 team field. In Monday's final round, UMES held its spot in the team standings with a 323 for a three day total of 966. UMES finished ahead of Manhattan (969), Merrimack (972) and Saint Francis (974). Boston College, the host institution, won the event with an impressive three day stroke count of 897.


Leading the Hawk lineup was freshman Andreas Roman. Roman recorded rounds of 81, 75 and 77 to finish in the 19th place with a total of 233. Pedro Marchioni combined for a three day total of 236. Max Osten's week was highlighted by a even par 72 in the second round and a three day total of 243. Jeter Teng finished with 254 strokes for the week. Emil Liddell had a total score of 274 and Vincent Coleman finished the week with a total of 280.


The team will be back in competition at the University of Delaware Intercollegiate at White Clay Creek in Wilmington, Delaware held on Sept. 15 and Sept. 16.
