Brown named MEAC Pitcher of the Week

University of Maryland Eastern Shore freshman Dani Brown was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday, announced by the MEAC office.

For the week, Brown appeared in 18.2 innings, allowing 12 hits, three earned runs and seven walks while recording eight strikeouts.

"She is coming into her own and is building connections and trust with the members of our program," UMES softball head coach Aaron Robinson said. "She has been a consistent force within our battery and is having success keeping hitters off balance during our games. She is showing consistency and intent in her innings in the circle."

Against Saint Peter's, Brown pitched eight innings with one strikeout, including five scoreless innings.

"She is adapting to the collegiate level and trusting herself," Robinson added. "She wants the ball and is always ready to do what the team needs as a starter, reliever or closer. We are looking forward to her continued development and dominance in the circle."

To close the week at Howard, Brown pitched 10.2 innings, allowing four hits, three earned runs and five walks while striking out seven. She also tossed four scoreless innings on Sunday, March 15 against Howard.

South Carolina State sophomore Lashea Morlu was named the MEAC Softball Player of the Week and Norfolk State's McKaley Kohn earned Rookie of the Week honors.

The Hawks will begin a seven-game homestand starting Tuesday, March 17 with a doubleheader against Colgate.
